Research on drugs for a book?

Yawn.... another author writing about a character that takes drugs. Since your book is fiction, why not just write about a fictional drug, and then you can ascribe all the characteristics you want to it have. Give it a really keen fictional name, such as "Getchahium," or "Zombie-7." Let us know when your book is published. So far I've never seen one of these books ever make it on the market, but I'm willing to be surprised.
