How can I train my parakeets to not bite? ?

I have two parakeets. They will not cooperate when I want to pick them up. Tonight I'm hoping to use some millet seed and see if they will hop onto my finger. If the millet seed does not work, what other ways would work? I know about the bird clickers, but they seem... confusing, I guess. Help please? (:
