Ipod scroll and light wont work!!!?

The ipod nano video, the scroll clicker thing and the light wont work. I can see the menu but nothing will respond and the screen is dark. I can only see the menu because it still shows but there is no light to light up the ipod, its just dimmed very much. also nothing responds!!!!!!
