Do I have pink eye or is it just irritation...?

Since it's so recent, hard to tell...it may even be better by now. You don't say anything about pain or itching. Did the redness change? I'd try a few ice cubes in a plastic bag to reduce swelling. If it progresses to conjunctivitis there isn't much you can do except to protect the people you'll be with. If the swelling becomes painful and tender to touch it's likely an infected oil gland and should respond to not-too-hot water compresses.
